Dawn through the Forest

It has been a long time since I’ve spent time djing or putting out any new mixes, however the past year of me diving back into collecting hardware synths, effects, and more inspired me to also pick up dj gear as well. What I ended up picking up was two used Technics SL-1200M3D turntables from Japan, an Allen & Heath Xone:96 mixer, and Native Instruments X1 Mk3. With this setup I have been able to play my old record collection, which fortunately has survived all my moves, and use timecode vinyl to control new tracks in Traktor since my goal is to later be able to integrate live hardware later and Traktor makes that extremely easy.

After getting my setup dialed in and spending time practicing to knock the rust out of myself I thought it would be fun to make a demo mix again. There were a few different variations I ended up recording since there were lots of good tracks I wanted to get in, but if I had I think I would have ended up with a mix over 4 hours instead of the around 2 hours this finalized mix. What I ended up finishing is sort of similar to some of my older earlier mixes that move between varying flavors of progressive house, tech house, and some breaks. Below is the mix on Mixcloud and my old shows and demo mixes I could find are also hosted there now. Later this mix and future ones may also be on YouTube since I’m working on learning TouchDesigner now as well to provide reactive visuals, but time will tell if I stick with that.
