Instagram

Looks like Intagram’s roll-out of their non-chronological feed has finally started hitting more people in the US. My own account seems to have changed over yesterday. I honestly don’t know what they’re thinking by having that as the default with no way to switch to a most recent first view. To me one of the main draws to Instagram was to catch up on what the people I follow do in a linear fashion.

However, I know my own posts are non-chronological compared to when I actually shot them, but I do try to publish in groups of related photos. Hopefully enough people will speak out about it again so that we at least have the option to view chronologically, otherwise I guess myself and others will use the platform less. If people want to use an algorhythmically driven platform they could just go to Facebook.

This also once again reiterates a point content creators should always be aware of. Don’t become completely reliant on one platform if you don’t have total control over it. Otherwise even a small change later could lead to the complete irrelevance of the platform, no matter how much work you’ve put into bringing your content there.
