I’ve been out of commission with my portable setup for my 4×5 since early last month. The Feisol ballhead I use somehow had the shaft of the clamp knob back out enough that I couldn’t keep it screwed in. Maybe it’s difficult to see in the picture, but the shaft raised the center of the knob.

I’m not sure if that was from repeated heavy tightening, but I think there should have been a metal stop in the knob to prevent the shaft from being able to do that. I’m kind of paranoid of having my camera fall, so I always tighten down the clamp hard. Fortunately when I contacted Feisol about it they were responsive and after an initial shipping mistake got my ballhead replaced.

Now after over a month and a half I have my light weight setup back for shooting 4×5. Hopefully I get out more, especially since I haven’t been shooting much since coming back from Korea and China.

I’m really slow to write new things or edit lately for that matter. Since coming back from Korea and China I have been less focused than I would have hoped, mainly due to sorting my own head and distracting myself with other projects. Soon I should also work on adding and changing what is on my site for my portfolio since I’ve shot a lot over the last year that I have been really happy with. Until then I’ll try to keep up on posting on Instagram, Tumblr, or others.

I haven’t written a blog for a long time, but I’ve been thinking more that now is a good time to start writing about projects, ideas, or how-to guides. Even though I’m active on a number of social sites, none of them give me the flexibility I really want over these kinds of posts, plus keeping them here should be better for archiving along with preventing censorship if I shoot off at the mouth. Perhaps this will also become a place where I write in my terrible Japanese and Korean as well, especially since I need to practice more. This year has been a strange year so far and I have a ton going around in my head still, so I might just ramble a lot like I am now.
